The Most Underrated Christmas Movie on Netflix

Klaus.

It was made by a small animation studio called SPA Studios and launched on Netflix back in 2019. It is a beautifully made 2D film and shows off another origin story of Santa Claus. There are many, but this one is my favorite. It starts off with Jesper at the Royal Postman Training Academy. One problem…Jesper’s Dad is the postmaster general and he has no incentive to perform. He’d rather be at home with the servants and delicious snacks. Unfortunately for Jesper, his Father sends him to Smeerensburg with the goal of posting 6,000 letters within the year. If he does not succeed, he is cut off from the family fortune. There is a catch…no one sends letters on this island. SO Jesper must find a way to get people to post letters!

Jesper runs into Klaus, a talented craftsman, who begins to make toys for the kids in Smeerensberg. Jesper convinces the kids of the island that if they write a letter to Klaus, they will get a toy. Klaus and Jesper work together to make and deliver all of the kids toys. I won’t go much further because I will ruin the story. But, trust me. If you’re looking for a new feel good Christmas movie to watch, Klaus is the one. It even comes with a stacked cast- Jason Schwatzman, Rashida Jones, Norm Macdonald, and Joan Cusack to name a few. Catch this bad boy on Netflix!
